IP Network Engineer I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Assist in the deployment, upkeep, and functionality of IP/MPLS network infrastructure.

• Aid in the testing and validation of network technologies and configurations within both lab and production settings.

• Engage in network upgrades, installations, and documentation processes.

• Resolve network issues and collaborate with senior engineers to tackle complex challenges.

• Work alongside network operations and engineering teams to ensure the provision of reliable and scalable network services.

• Oversee network performance and help identify areas for enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4-5 years of experience in networking, telecommunications, ISP, or carrier Ethernet settings.

• Fundamental knowledge of IP networking concepts and principles of network engineering.

• Practical experience with routers and switches, ideally on the Nokia/Alcatel platform.

• Familiarity with routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, or IS-IS.

• Understanding of MPLS concepts and carrier networking technologies.

• Comprehension of Layer 2 technologies, such as VLANs, STP, and LACP.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to work remotely and collaboratively in a team-focused environment.

• Willingness to learn new technologies and advance in a network engineering career.

• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a relevant field (preferred).

• Nokia NRS I certification or other entry-level networking certifications (CCNA, JNCIA, etc.) (preferred).

• Experience with data center networking and transport technologies, such as fiber, microwave, or cellular networks (preferred).

• Background in a service provider or telecommunications environment (preferred).

• Availability to work Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, during standard daytime business hours in the Alaska time zone.
