IoT Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain firmware and gateway software in C++.

• Set up and manage device communication through MQTT, establishing topics, QoS, and security policies.

• Connect devices and gateways with the FIWARE platform, including IoT Agents and Orion Context Broker, while modeling entities in NGSI.

• Provision, oversee, and manage field devices, including performing connectivity diagnostics.

• Ensure reliable data collection and transmission, incorporating reconnection strategies, local buffering, and fault handling.

• Assist in the integration of IoT data with various systems, dashboards, and business applications.

• Document system architectures, data flows, and installation procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience with IoT projects, emphasizing devices, gateways, and connectivity.

• Proficiency in C++ development for embedded systems and/or gateways, including embedded Linux and microcontrollers like ESP32, STM32, or equivalent.

• Strong understanding of the MQTT protocol, encompassing brokers, topics, QoS, message retention, and security through TLS and authentication.

• Familiarity with the FIWARE platform, including Orion Context Broker, IoT Agents, NGSI-v2 / NGSI-LD, and Smart Data Models.

• Experience in integrating devices with platforms and REST APIs, focusing on device provisioning and management.

• Knowledge of network and connectivity protocols: TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and 4G/LTE.

• Daily proficiency in Linux, Docker, and Git for development and deployment tasks.

• Understanding of LoRaWAN or NB-IoT is advantageous.

• Familiarity with CoAP, Modbus, OPC UA, BLE, and Zigbee is preferred.

• Knowledge of QuantumLeap, Cygnus, Keyrock/Wilma, CrateDB, InfluxDB, or TimescaleDB is preferred.

• Experience with edge computing and remote firmware updates (OTA) is preferred.

• Familiarity with AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, or similar platforms, along with Kubernetes, is preferred.

• Knowledge of Python or Node.js for scripting, testing, and integration services is preferred.

• Good practices in IoT security are preferred, including certificates, encryption, and gateway hardening.
