Investment Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Assist WES in maintaining its fully mission-aligned investment portfolio, which includes catalytic and thematic investing strategies.

• Generate investment pipelines and perform market research to uncover potential investment opportunities.

• Execute financial, strategic, and impact investment due diligence.

• Design investment mechanisms such as debt, equity, guarantees, and recoverable grants.

• Conduct investment analysis, financial modeling, benchmarking, portfolio monitoring, forecasting, and trend analysis.

• Create screening and investment memos, dashboards, reports, and materials for decision-making.

• Collaborate with the Investments team, leadership, and Board to enhance WES’ investment strategy.

• Optimize investment processes, which encompass pipeline management, diligence frameworks, portfolio monitoring, valuation, and reporting systems.

• Oversee project management and CRM systems while tracking portfolio milestones and objectives.

• Assist in portfolio monitoring, valuation, performance reporting, cash and investment reviews, and risk assessments.

• Serve as an internal resource and connector for impact investing initiatives across WES departments.

• Formulate and implement knowledge management strategies that integrate investment activities and insights.

• Provide support to department leadership and management with various administrative tasks as needed.

• Promote learning, knowledge sharing, and thought leadership among investee partners and the wider field.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• Minimum of 2 years of related work experience or at least 1 year of relevant work experience.

• Background in impact investing or a related sector, such as venture capital, venture philanthropy, private equity, community development financing, fund investments, social enterprise development, investment banking, and/or private debt.

• Strong analytical and data management abilities.

• Experience in project management.

• Proficient in working with financial statements and performing portfolio analysis.

• Experience in developing financial models.

• High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and OneDrive.

• Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM systems.

• Knowledge of Tableau and Google Apps.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to establish trust with diverse stakeholder groups.

• Commitment to WES’ mission, trust-based investing, and JEDI principles.

• MBA or Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

• Willingness to travel as necessary to meet partners, attend conferences, and periodically visit WES’ offices in NYC and Toronto.
