Investment Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Identify and create new investment opportunities within catalytic and thematic portfolios

• Establish robust pipeline channels and perform market analysis

• Execute investment due diligence covering financial, strategic, and impact aspects

• Distill complex data into actionable insights and recommendations

• Assist with investment analysis, financial modeling, benchmarking, and portfolio oversight

• Create dashboards, reports, forecasts, and trend analyses

• Contribute to WES’ overall investment strategy

• Draft screening and investment memos along with other decision-making documents

• Enhance comprehensive investment processes, which include pipeline management, diligence frameworks, portfolio oversight, valuation methods, and reporting systems

• Oversee project management and CRM systems

• Aid in portfolio monitoring, valuation, performance reporting, cash and investment reviews, performance assessments, valuation analyses, ad-hoc analyses, and risk evaluations

• Serve as an internal liaison and advocate for impact investing across WES teams

• Formulate and implement a knowledge management strategy

• Provide ad hoc administrative assistance to department leadership

• Encourage learning, knowledge sharing, and thought leadership among investee partners and the broader community

• Collaborate with WES departments, members of the Executive Leadership Team, Board members, internal stakeholders, external partners, and investee partners

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience or 1 year of pertinent experience

• Background in impact investing or related fields such as venture capital, venture philanthropy, private equity, community development financing, fund investments, social enterprise development, investment banking, and/or private debt

• Exceptional analytical and data management capabilities

• Strong project management proficiency

• Familiarity with financial statements

• Experience in conducting portfolio analysis

• Competence in constructing financial models

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and OneDrive

• Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM systems

• Familiarity with Tableau

• Proficient in Google Apps

• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities

• Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, and adaptability

• Capacity to build trust with diverse stakeholder groups

• Entrepreneurial mindset

• Preferred: MBA or Master's degree in a relevant field

• Willingness to travel as necessary to engage with partners, attend conferences, and occasionally visit WES’ NYC and Toronto offices
