Investment Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Assist in managing WES’ fully mission-aligned investment portfolio, which includes catalytic and thematic investment strategies.

• Create investment pipelines and identify new opportunities.

• Execute market research and carry out investment due diligence focusing on financial, strategic, and impact aspects.

• Conduct investment analysis, financial modeling, benchmarking, portfolio monitoring, dashboards, reporting, forecasting, and trend analysis.

• Contribute to the overall investment strategy of WES.

• Draft screening and investment memos along with other essential decision-making documents.

• Enhance end-to-end investment processes, due diligence frameworks, portfolio monitoring, valuation methods, and reporting systems.

• Oversee project management and CRM systems that support mission-investing objectives and milestones.

• Assist in portfolio monitoring, valuation, performance reporting, cash and investment evaluations, and risk assessments.

• Act as a key internal resource and proponent for impact investing across various WES departments.

• Design and implement a knowledge management strategy.

• Provide support to department leadership and management with various administrative tasks as needed.

• Facilitate learning, knowledge exchange, and thought leadership among investee partners and the wider field.

• Collaborate with WES departments, executive leadership, Board members, internal stakeholders, and external partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience or at least 1 year of related experience.

• Background in impact investing or related fields such as venture capital, venture philanthropy, private equity, community development financing, fund investments, social enterprise development, investment banking, and/or private debt.

• Proficient analytical and data management capabilities.

• Strong project management expertise.

• Experience in analyzing financial statements, conducting portfolio assessments, building financial models, and creating summaries and visuals.

• High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and OneDrive.

• Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems.

• Experience with Tableau and Google Apps.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capacity to establish trust with diverse stakeholder groups.

• An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to devise innovative solutions.

• Dedication to WES’ mission, trust-based investing, and JEDI principles.

• An MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.

• Willingness to travel as necessary to engage with partners, attend conferences, and visit WES’ offices in NYC and Toronto periodically.
