Intervention Specialist, Middle School

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with students in grades 6–8 who have learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities

• Ensure that lessons and teaching methodologies cater to the diverse needs of students

• Instruct on independent living, literacy, communication, and mathematics skills

• Customize and/or adjust the K12 curriculum to comply with state content standards

• Draft and uphold compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

• Work alongside general education teachers to achieve student objectives

• Inform parents about instructional techniques

• Prepare necessary documentation

• Organize and lead IEP meetings

• Supervise achievement tests and other mandated assessments, including alternative evaluations

• Partner with related services teams to formulate and track IEP goals

• Travel for professional development and testing purposes

⛳️ Requirements

• Valid State of Ohio Intervention Specialist License

• Bachelor’s Degree

• At least 1 year of classroom experience or an equivalent mix of education and experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.)

• Familiarity with web-based applications

• Capability to pass the necessary background check

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong presentation abilities

• Effective organizational and multitasking skills

• Ability to operate independently without direct supervision

• Flexible availability

• Willingness to travel as necessary, up to 30% of the time

• Ability to fulfill travel obligations

• Commitment to obtaining Ohio Certification

• Capacity to work autonomously, typically 40+ hours per week

• Ability to maintain a distraction-free professional home office during work hours

• Preference for Ohio residents; applicants from Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana may be considered if located within 100 miles of the Ohio border
