This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Review extensive amounts of raw, unscripted footage to pinpoint the most engaging characters, moments, reactions, and narratives.
• Transform raw footage into concise, captivating stories lasting 2–3 minutes, featuring a strong introduction, emotional development, and a rewarding conclusion.
• Make innovative structural choices rather than merely following a chronological sequence of footage.
• Craft compelling opening hooks that instantly motivate viewers to continue watching.
• Foster curiosity, escalation, revelations, and emotional progression throughout each edit.
• Edit for viewer retention and pacing, refining, rearranging, restructuring, or eliminating segments that may lead to viewer disengagement.
• Edit various content types, including man-on-the-street segments, giveaways, surprises, acts of kindness, emotional interviews, and human-interest stories.
• Utilize music, sound design, captions, graphics, reaction shots, and other editorial tools to enhance emotional depth and strengthen the narrative.
• Develop alternative hooks, openings, runtimes, or versions for creative and performance analysis.
• Collaborate with producers and the Shorts creative team from the raw footage stage through the first cut, revisions, and final output.
• Interpret feedback thoughtfully and promptly while maintaining narrative clarity and emotional resonance.
• Stay updated on short-form editing trends, platform best practices, and viral social media content.
• Report to the Head of Shorts and Junior Manager for Post.
• Work remotely while tracking and submitting hours through Dhar Mann Studios’ time-tracking software.
• A minimum of 2+ years of professional video editing experience, preferably in social-first, digital, unscripted, documentary, or short-form content.
• A robust portfolio showcasing the ability to discover and shape compelling narratives from raw footage.
• Strong creative judgment and confidence in making editorial choices regarding structure, pacing, character, emotion, and payoff.
• Ability to analyze large volumes of unscripted footage and swiftly identify the most crucial story elements.
• In-depth understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Reels language and pacing.
• Keen instincts regarding hooks, retention, reveals, escalation, emotional shifts, and satisfying conclusions.
• Understanding of emotional storytelling with the ability to recognize essential authentic moments.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Experience employing music, sound design, captions, graphics, and reaction shots to enhance narrative and emotional impact.
• Ability to work efficiently, manage multiple edits concurrently, and respond effectively to creative feedback.
• Collaborative attitude and comfort in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Recognition that short-form storytelling merges retention-driven editing with genuine human emotion.
• Work remotely from home or your personal office.
• Typical work schedule of 40 hours per week.
