Intern – Security, GRC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide support for Incident Response when a confirmed actionable incident arises.

• Document, investigate, and report on issues related to information security and emerging trends.

• Manage and configure tools and devices to enhance the security monitoring infrastructure.

• Develop tools to assist with security and compliance tasks.

• Aid in ongoing vulnerability testing of web applications to detect weaknesses.

• Research and identify potential security measures to address active vulnerabilities.

• Collaborate with teams to formulate remediation strategies and timelines for vulnerabilities.

• Create queries and visualizations for security and compliance tasks.

• Assist in resolving security issues identified in production applications.

• Analyze and trend security log data from various security devices.

• Partner with teams to collect information regarding security problems, issues, and ideas.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in a related field, preferably in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a similar discipline.

• Strong ethical standards and discretion in handling sensitive information and data.

• Excellent communication and networking abilities (written, verbal, listening).

• Basic knowledge of one or more programming languages, including Python, Java, SQL, Go, and/or Dart.

• Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools and/or penetration testing techniques.

• Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Google App Engine (GAE).

• Proficient understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems.

• Focus on Security Engineering: capability to analyze issues and develop creative solutions within business constraints; strong understanding of HTTP and common web application vulnerabilities.

• Focus on Security Operations: self-motivated and proactive in identifying and addressing security issues; adept in networking with technical professionals to gather project information.

• Minimal travel required.

• Reliable internet access when working remotely and not located in a Workiva office.
