Intern – Product Strategy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Collaborate as an integral member of HARMAN's Software Experiences Business Unit product team.

• Participate in standups, design discussions, product marketing conversations, and product evaluations.

• Conduct competitive analysis and user research focused on music discovery, streaming, and short-form content.

• Monitor and evaluate competitors and adjacent products to highlight feature gaps, trends, and unmet needs.

• Maintain a weekly competitive tracker that includes feature releases, launches, and competitor positioning.

• Recruit and interview users aged 16 to 25.

• Assist in usability testing and concept assessments for features and prototypes.

• Collect qualitative and quantitative feedback and translate it into actionable recommendations for sprints.

• Investigate audience reactions to curation and algorithmic suggestions.

• Analyze visual and interaction trends across music, social media, and related applications.

• Monitor discussions on Reddit, Discord, TikTok, and app store reviews for pertinent themes.

• Aid user feedback programs by drafting survey questions, tracking feedback and bug reports, and documenting recurring themes.

• Organize interview notes, clips, and findings within the research repository.

• Summarize research findings in concise internal documents and prepare a final write-up and presentation.

• Lead a self-directed product research project and present findings and recommendations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher at an accredited institution.

• Must have completed at least the Sophomore year.

• Enrolled in at least one course during the semester/quarter prior to the internship.

• Must return to school for at least one semester following the internship.

• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

• Demonstrated curiosity about consumer products and music discovery, sharing, and discussions.

• Strong written communication abilities.

• Comfortable conducting interviews and asking follow-up questions.

• Highly organized and self-motivated; able to manage multiple research threads with minimal supervision in a remote setting.

• Proficient in working with survey results and basic data sets.

• Hands-on experience with TikTok, Instagram, Discord, Reddit, and major streaming platforms.

• Ability to handle confidential information regarding products, partners, and roadmaps with discretion.

• Must successfully complete a post-offer background check and drug screening.

• Preferred fields of study include business, marketing, design, human-computer interaction, communications, music business, or related disciplines.

• Bonus: Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in user research, product management, marketing, or design.

• Bonus: Experience with interviews, surveys, or usability testing.

• Bonus: Experience in building an audience, creating social content, or moderating an online community.

• Bonus: Familiarity with Figma, Notion, and survey or analytics platforms.
