This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and provide support for interfaces that connect healthcare organizations and EHR systems to UHIN’s health information exchange solutions.
• Onboard new data sources and consumers.
• Configure and maintain HL7v2, C-CDA, and HL7 FHIR interfaces.
• Proactively oversee the HIE environment and troubleshoot errors to pinpoint root causes.
• Coordinate the resolution of issues and the reprocessing of messages.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for assigned integrations with customers, vendors, and external partners.
• Manage technical implementations, covering activities, deliverables, dependencies, risks, issues, and next steps.
• Maintain interface code by adhering to development, coding, version control, documentation, and review standards.
• Document processes, data flows, onboarding procedures, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with EHR/EMR vendors to connect data sources and adjust system settings or features.
• Execute project plans and coordinate testing, implementation, and operation of clinical systems.
• Support the migration of interfaces and data sources across systems or platforms.
• Evaluate interfaces and data flows, validating successful migrations.
• Develop statements of work, establish maintenance schedules, and ensure high availability support.
• Conduct scheduled upgrades to clinical services software.
• Monitor and report on performance and uptime.
• Create testing and quality assurance processes for connectivity and data integrity.
• Collaborate with teams to deliver high-quality service and functionality.
• Utilize SQL for data analysis to enhance data quality and completeness.
• Enhance maintenance, support, documentation, and processes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Experience with NextGen Mirth Connect or an equivalent enterprise integration engine.
• Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting HL7v2 interfaces including ADT, ORU, and MDM.
• Skilled in configuring and troubleshooting HL7 FHIR and C-CDA interfaces.
• Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and an understanding of the healthcare domain.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Extensive experience with connector/interface documentation and transformation documentation.
• Proficient in relational databases including SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in customer-facing situations.
• Capable of independently managing assigned technical implementations.
• Experienced in creating and maintaining documentation for interfaces, transformations, configurations, and implementation procedures.
• Mirth Connect experience is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Agile project management is preferred.
• Experience with any scripting language is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS, REST APIs, and web services is preferred.
• Familiarity with Linux is preferred.
• Experience with Google BigQuery is preferred.
• Knowledge of Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) concepts and/or software is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a healthcare-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare and interface development.
• Ability to adhere to UHIN policies and procedures regarding PHI privacy and security.
• Capability to maintain confidentiality of processed, stored, or accessed information.
• Ability to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 20 lbs.
