This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Acquire comprehensive and precise insurance benefit details via payer portals, telephone, or fax.
• Confirm and record payer information in the Homecare Homebase EMR system.
• Log deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximums.
• Oversee insurance verification and authorization task workflows.
• Examine entitlement verification reports and look into any dubious responses.
• Assess insurance modifications and issues related to funding source updates.
• Reverify Medicaid patients and current patient insurance on a monthly basis.
• Reach out to patients, hospitals, and physician offices to clarify benefits.
• Support scheduling with funding source-related challenges.
• Secure and sustain initial, prior, ongoing, and reauthorizations.
• Manage the authorization tab within Homecare Homebase.
• Provide necessary clinical information to insurance providers.
• Follow up on authorization submissions and relay approvals or denials to clinical staff.
• Aid billing with discrepancies in insurance verification and authorization.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of payer portals.
• Adhere to the company's Core Values and Core Competencies.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Must reside in the Eastern Time Zone.
• Willingness to work every other Saturday is required.
• An associate degree or a combination of relevant experience and business courses is preferred.
• A minimum of one year of prior experience in insurance verification, authorization, or medical billing is necessary.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurance and authorization requirements is expected.
• Knowledge of insurance websites and payer portals is required.
• Experience with HomeCare Homebase is preferred.
• Ability to think critically and act autonomously when addressing benefit discrepancies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Availability on weekends, holidays, and after hours based on business requirements.
• Must possess and maintain a professional license, certificate, or registration in good standing, as applicable.
• Successful completion of a drug screening prior to employment is mandatory.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
