Director, Construction Risk Management – Affordable Housing Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee and direct CPC’s construction lending operations, primarily focused on affordable housing initiatives in upstate New York.

• Collaborate with lending teams across the organization to ensure compliance with construction lending risk guidelines, procedures, and policies.

• Evaluate and suggest strategies to mitigate construction risks on specific projects as well as across the entire portfolio.

• Supervise third-party engineers and architects, including selection, requirements, quality assurance, and compliance oversight.

• Analyze construction-related documents at the stages of loan commitment, during construction, and at loan conversion.

• Engage with borrowers, contractors, and architects to identify and evaluate budget and schedule risks, providing recommendations for mitigation.

• Create pre-construction and post-construction analysis reports.

• Review monthly updates on construction progress and related documentation.

• Examine Property Condition Assessment reports and offer insights on property condition, quality, and ongoing operational expenses.

• Conduct training seminars on construction risk for both internal and external clients.

• Carry out administrative responsibilities associated with construction portfolio management and necessary documentation.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience with a strong understanding of building materials, design, construction processes, documentation, cost analysis, and project scheduling for both agency and non-agency level construction projects.

• At least 5 years of experience in a construction lending setting and/or representing construction lenders, with a significant focus on managing construction risk.

• A professional background or an accredited degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management is preferred.

• Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.

• Capable of managing multiple projects and prioritizing a diverse workload.

• Must be a self-motivated individual and a cooperative team player, with the ability to work independently.

• Authorization to work in the United States is required.

• Employment sponsorship is not available.
