This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Verify patient eligibility and benefits
• Read and comprehend clinical notes and/or patient charts
• Create authorizations when necessary
• Execute daily tasks related to insurance authorization specialist
• Initiate authorizations using Cerner when applicable
• Exceptional communication skills (both written and oral) and strong interpersonal abilities
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
• Must possess attention to detail and the ability to follow through on issues to resolution
• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
• At least two years of experience in an authorization department, insurance billing, or a similar field
• Effective interpersonal and management skills
• Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Skills and knowledge necessary to address individual needs based on physical, psycho-social, educational, safety, and other criteria relevant to each patient
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to utilize time effectively
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills
• Competent computer skills
• Ability to work in a seated position for extended periods
• Ability to focus on and read a computer screen for prolonged periods
• Flexibility to manage a fluctuating and expanding workload
• Preferred: Experience with Cerner for initiating authorizations
