Insurance Authorization Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Gather comprehensive and precise benefit details from payer portals, via phone, or fax.

• Confirm and document patient and policy information within the Homecare Homebase EMR system.

• Record deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximums.

• Oversee insurance verification and authorization task workflows.

• Validate Medicare eligibility and analyze entitlement verification reports.

• Examine insurance modifications and updates to funding sources.

• Reconfirm Medicaid patients and current patient insurance on a monthly basis.

• Reach out to patients, hospitals, physician offices, and insurance companies to clarify benefits and authorizations.

• Support scheduling with issues related to funding sources.

• Acquire initial, prior, ongoing, and reauthorizations.

• Manage the authorization tab in HCHB.

• Provide clinical information requested by insurance providers.

• Inform clinical staff of authorization approvals and denials.

• Assist billing with discrepancies in insurance verification and authorization.

• Maintain updated knowledge of payer portals.

• Adhere to the company's Core Values and Core Competencies.

• Carry out other assigned duties.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must reside in the Eastern Time Zone.

• Must be available to work every other Saturday.

• At least one (1) year of prior experience in insurance verification, authorization, or medical billing is required.

• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurance and authorization requirements.

• Knowledge of insurance websites and payer portals is essential.

• Experience with Homecare Homebase (HCHB) is strongly preferred.

• An associate degree or a combination of experience and business courses is preferred.

• Must hold and maintain a professional license, certificate, or registration in good standing, as applicable.

• Availability for weekends, holidays, and after hours based on business needs.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening is required.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
