This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Examine assigned electronic case files, exhibits, medical evidence, previous decisions, and hearing notifications.
• Determine the case theory, evidentiary deficiencies, vocational concerns, and potential questions that may arise during the administrative law judge's proceedings.
• Conduct targeted pre-hearing preparations with claimants, addressing hearing expectations and anticipated testimonies.
• Attend scheduled Social Security disability hearings, delivering professional and persuasive representation.
• Develop claimant testimonies and interrogate vocational or medical experts when necessary.
• Present clear legal and factual arguments based on existing records and relevant SSA regulations.
• Provide a prompt post-hearing summary and manage limited follow-up tasks directly related to the hearing.
• Operate within a hearing-only engagement framework that excludes initial intake, applications, routine case development, ongoing client management, unrelated agency correspondence, federal-court work, and extensive brief writing unless otherwise agreed upon.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with good standing in the relevant bar.
• Authorization and eligibility to represent claimants in front of the Social Security Administration.
• Proven experience in representing claimants during Social Security disability hearings.
• Strong knowledge of SSA disability regulations, hearing protocols, medical evidence, and vocational matters.
• Ability to prepare effectively, manage scheduled hearing timelines, and advocate assertively in a remote setting.
• Excellent judgment, professionalism, empathy, and client communication skills.
• Proficiency in digital case-management systems and reviewing electronic records.
• A minimum of four years in Social Security disability practice or comparable high-volume hearing experience (preferred).
• Experience managing remote, video, and telephone hearings across various hearing offices or regions (preferred).
• Availability on the West Coast or the capability to cover hearings across multiple U.S. time zones (preferred).
• Experience with federal disability claims or appellate work (preferred).
• The contractor is responsible for maintaining required licensure, professional responsibilities, insurance, taxes, technology, and a suitable confidential workspace.
• Per-hearing contractor compensation, with the applicable rate outlined in a written independent contractor agreement.
• Remote, hearing-focused work with scheduling and assignment volume determined by mutual consent.
• Organized electronic case materials and hearing details for accepted assignments.
• Technology-driven workflow and access to necessary information for preparing assigned hearings.
• Coordination support for scheduling and hearing logistics.
