In-Field Mentor Trainer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.

📋 Description

• Train and continuously assess and develop both teachers and missionaries.

• Offer personalized coaching and ongoing in-service training through weekly meetings.

• Supply teachers with necessary materials and policy information.

• Observe and evaluate the performance of missionaries and teachers.

• Facilitate opportunities for teacher improvement.

• Assist in the training of new teachers prior to their classroom experiences.

• Ensure that teachers comprehend and effectively deliver the approved MTC curriculum.

• Lead the updates or development of the MTC curriculum.

• Teach in the classroom when necessary.

• Advocate for the well-being of missionaries and ensure their individual needs are met.

• Guide teachers in creating an optimal learning environment.

• Manage daily supervisory tasks and consult with the Manager of Training on disciplinary matters.

• Provide recommendations regarding teacher merit increases and dismissals.

• Collaborate with other Lead Teachers concerning shared employees.

• Report on missionary progress and teacher performance to the Manager of Training.

• Assist in interviewing, assessing teaching and language skills, and making hiring decisions.

• Support area training meetings and coordinate training resources.

• Assess the proficiency levels of missionaries and teacher applicants in the target language upon request.

• Carry out MTC Teacher responsibilities and other temporary MTC tasks as required.

• Report to management within the Training Department.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months experience as an MTC teacher or Infield Mentor.

• Must be a returned missionary within the last 3 years.

• Must possess fluency in a non-native language (excluding English or ESL area assignments).

• Demonstrates familiarity with MTC language learning strategies and methodologies.

• Must have a comprehensive understanding of MTC training principles.

• Exhibits strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

• Exceptional training capabilities are required.

• Must communicate effectively.

• Demonstrates the ability to perform well under pressure.

• Must possess the technological skills necessary to effectively function in the MTC environment.

• Must have outstanding interpersonal and leadership qualities.

• Must have a solid understanding of Preach My Gospel.

• Exhibits a positive attitude, proactivity, and self-motivation.

• Experience serving as a missionary is required.

• Physical ability to sit for extended periods and use monitors/equipment as necessary.

• Church membership and worthiness to hold a temple recommend are prerequisites for employment.
