Human Resources Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop the comprehensive HR strategy for the organization in collaboration with the CEO and COO.

• Conduct HR due diligence and facilitate onboarding processes for mergers and acquisitions.

• Nurture vendor partnerships and collaborate with the CEO and COO to make strategic decisions regarding platform-wide benefits providers.

• Manage the implementation and continuous administration of organization-wide benefits.

• Collaborate with practice leaders to meet staffing requirements and guide candidates to practices with available positions.

• Offer direct HR generalist support to acquired practices.

• Build the internal HR team, evaluate staffing needs, and suggest team expansion to the CEO and COO.

• Participate in non-HR initiatives as a senior leader in a growing company until roles become more defined.

• Establish direct hiring pipelines for veterinarians and support staff, including representing AVP at job fairs, conferences, and industry gatherings.

• Discover, implement, and advocate for AI tools that enhance HR efficiency and quality.

• Utilize project management tools like Notion to plan, monitor, and document HR projects, such as acquisition onboarding, benefits implementations, and open enrollment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

• Over 8 years of leadership experience in HR.

• Experience in corporate human resources, including the design, rollout, and maintenance of employee payroll and benefits systems.

• Proven experience in a multi-location business operating in multiple states is essential.

• Familiarity with HR functions related to mergers and acquisitions, including HR due diligence and employee onboarding.

• Skills in sourcing, vetting, and onboarding candidates.

• An agile, enthusiastic, collaborative, and entrepreneurial mindset, capable of proactively contributing to a rapidly expanding startup where internal frameworks are being developed and refined.

• Passion for building and leading a "dream team" within the HR department.

• Knowledge of HR ethics and professionalism, labor and employment law, budget development and planning, and regulatory compliance.

• Capability to create and implement scalable processes and systems in a growing organization.

• In-depth understanding of AI tools and their effective application in HR functions such as recruitment, onboarding, employee communications, and process automation.

• Familiarity with project management systems, including Notion.

• A passion for animals and an appreciation for the mission of veterinary healthcare companies and their professionals.

• Preferred: Experience in human resources specific to healthcare, especially in veterinary healthcare.

• Advanced HR certifications are preferred but not mandatory, including SHRM-CP/SCP and PHR/SPHR.
