This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Support the Housing Investigation Unit by summarizing investigation documents and additional materials received.
• Upload summaries and documents into ActionStep and the HUD Enforcement Management System (HEMS).
• Inform investigators when summaries have been finalized.
• Advise and provide information to the public regarding allegations of housing discrimination.
• Counsel complainants, respondents, and representatives on relevant laws, agency jurisdiction, procedures, and regulations.
• Deliver case status updates to incoming callers.
• Conduct detailed fact-finding and assess evidence.
• Draft comprehensive investigative reports within specified timeframes.
• Contribute to legally sound conclusions and recommendations.
• Propose innovative strategies to enhance agency and personal efficiency and effectiveness.
• Work collaboratively with unit members to achieve unit objectives.
• Understanding of fundamental investigation techniques, rules of evidence, court procedures, and requirements.
• Proficient in applying logic and reasoning.
• Skilled in employing techniques of active listening.
• Capability to conduct fact-finding interviews and collect statements.
• Ability to utilize deductive reasoning.
• Competence in analyzing information and assessing its validity.
• Ability to compose accurate investigation reports and deliver detailed verbal presentations.
• Capability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ability to make independent decisions.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with others.
• Five years of experience in legal or paralegal work, investigative roles, human relations, human resources, regulatory inspections, social work, personnel, education, counseling, affirmative action (AA), equal employment opportunity (EEO), or juvenile/adult criminal justice system work; OR a bachelor’s degree with one year of such experience.
• Experience in Fair Housing or Employment Investigations is preferred.
• Successful completion of a level two, fingerprint-based background check.
• Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, must fulfill Selective Service registration or exemption requirements.
