Hospice Veterinarian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Deliver in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life assistance, pain and symptom management, and humane euthanasia services within the designated service area.

• Travel independently to scheduled appointments and operate in a mobile veterinary care setting.

• Conduct physical examinations, clinical evaluations, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and other veterinary procedures.

• Educate and support pet families in making quality-of-life decisions, exploring end-of-life care options, understanding euthanasia, and managing aftercare.

• Keep precise veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.

• Communicate effectively with pet families, veterinary medical teams, scheduling staff, support personnel, and referring veterinary clinics.

• Safely handle, position, and assist in the movement of companion animals.

• Uphold clinical independence, sound medical judgment, professionalism, and reliability while working autonomously in the field.

• Exhibit compassion, dignity, and respect in all interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or an equivalent veterinary medical degree from an accredited or qualifying veterinary program.

• Possess, or be eligible to acquire, an active veterinary license in the states where services will be provided.

• Valid U.S. driver's license required.

• Capability to safely travel between scheduled in-home veterinary visits.

• Comfort in working independently as a mobile veterinarian.

• Ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism during discussions regarding pet hospice, quality-of-life, and end-of-life matters.

• Availability for rotational weekend scheduling.

• Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted and assist with weights up to 100 pounds.

• Competence to perform physical and logistical tasks in diverse residential environments.

• Successful completion of relevant background and motor vehicle record checks post-hire and before the scheduled start date.
