This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver targeted high school English course content in a virtual setting.
• Provide instruction, support, and guidance while overseeing the learning process.
• Tailor learning experiences to meet the individual needs of students.
• Track student progress using Stride K12’s learning management system.
• Collaborate with students and parents/learning coaches to further learning toward set objectives.
• Facilitate both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
• Differentiate instruction based on students' mastery levels.
• Enhance course content with approved synchronous and asynchronous tools.
• Maintain the grade book and uphold academic integrity.
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion.
• Notify administrators of any concerns related to student performance and progress.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.
• Foster positive relationships with families and maintain communication with students and learning coaches/parents.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues.
• Travel for professional development, student testing, and other school-related obligations.
• Contribute to the Arkansas Virtual Academy’s mission of individualized, data-driven, student-centered education.
• Required: Arkansas Department of Education High School English Teaching Certification.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Active state teaching license.
• Must be able to pass a required background check.
• Capability to work independently, generally 40+ hours per week.
• Ability to maintain a professional home office free from distractions during work hours.
• Strong preference for candidates residing in Arkansas.
• Experience working with high school students.
• Experience aiding adults and children in utilizing technology.
• Experience in teaching online/virtual and/or in-person settings.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms.
• Ability to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data for instructional purposes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Must maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
• Willingness to travel as needed, averaging once per month and/or approximately 20% of the time.
