Healthcare Emergency Management Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assist in emergency preparedness and mutual aid coordination for long-term care facilities in California Region 1.

• Aid in the development and execution of a Long-Term Care Mutual Aid Plan that encompasses approximately 486 skilled nursing facilities.

• Collaborate with skilled nursing facilities, county and regional emergency management partners, the California Department of Public Health, the California Association of Health Facilities, and various stakeholders.

• Act as the primary liaison for client interactions and foster productive, enduring relationships.

• Organize and lead meetings, workshops, training sessions, and exercises with healthcare and emergency response partners.

• Conduct site visits, facilitate facility onboarding and orientation, provide initial and annual training, manage drill reporting, and coordinate annual full-scale disaster exercises.

• Document exercises in accordance with HSEEP standards.

• Clearly present information to diverse groups with varying levels of technical expertise.

• Identify business opportunities, assist with proposals, engage in industry events, and present solutions to potential clients.

• Work collaboratively across disciplines to create services, professional insights, and educational materials for clients.

• Stay informed about changes in regulations, accreditation standards, and professional practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, fire protection, fire science, safety, or a related field is preferred; an associate degree with pertinent experience will also be considered.

• Certification as an Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) is preferred.

• A valid driver’s license is required.

• Ability to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines effectively.

• Sound judgment with the capability to communicate efficiently with clients and partners.

• Experience in coordinating or facilitating training and exercises with healthcare and emergency response partners.

• A keen interest in cultivating client relationships and driving business development.

• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the capacity to convey information to various audiences.

• Competence in organizing work, managing time, and adjusting to shifting priorities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning new technology platforms.

• Willingness to travel domestically up to 50%; travel within the Region 1 counties may exceed 50% during the initial year.
