Health Information Specialist I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Work hours are from 8 AM to 4:30 PM CST, Monday to Friday.

• Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with Company and Facility policies and procedures.

• Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of Company and facility software.

• Comply with Company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies.

• Notify the manager regarding work-related issues, site challenges, and changes in workload.

• Provide assistance with additional tasks or responsibilities as necessary.

• Consistently apply medical privacy regulations to prevent unauthorized disclosures.

• Manage, protect, and guarantee HIPAA compliance for patient health records.

• Prepare new patient charts using either paper sources or electronic health records.

• Assemble accurate and complete medical records in the standard prescribed order.

• Create digital images of documents for electronic medical records.

• Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to both internal and external requestors.

• Handle inbound and outbound calls.

• Assist with patient walk-ins.

• Manage faxes, open mail, perform data entry, and schedule pickups as necessary.

• Meet site-specific productivity expectations.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

• Ability to commute between locations as needed.

• Must be available to work overtime during peak seasons when necessary.

• Basic computer skills are essential.

• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other standard office equipment regularly.

• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
