This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +1 more state.
• Accurately and efficiently process requests for the release of information and medical records.
• Protect patient privacy while ensuring that releases adhere to authorizations, company policies, and HIPAA regulations.
• Receive and handle requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility procedures.
• Uphold confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
• Maintain a solid understanding of company and facility software.
• Notify the manager of worksite challenges and variations in workload.
• Oversee patient health records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
• Prepare new patient charts utilizing both paper documentation and electronic health records.
• Organize medical records in the standard order, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Create digital copies of documents for electronic medical records.
• Retrieve and appropriately send patient records to both internal and external requestors.
• Handle incoming and outgoing calls from patients, insurance providers, and legal representatives.
• Record information across multiple platforms using dual computer monitors.
• Assist with patient walk-ins, faxing, mail management, data entry, and scheduling pickups as required.
• Meet specific productivity goals set for the site.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to travel between locations as necessary.
• Willingness to work overtime during peak periods when needed.
• Basic proficiency in computer use.
• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other general office equipment on a regular basis.
• Professional communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on maintaining accurate and compliant medical records.
• Excellent data entry capabilities.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to shifting priorities and role demands.
• Proficient in organizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Capable of responding to requests in a fast-paced environment.
