Health Information Management Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Examine medical records to ensure completeness and identify documentation deficiencies.

• Oversee and manage the workflows related to record completion and document imaging.

• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the electronic health record (EHR).

• Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to address missing or incomplete documentation.

• Conduct quality reviews to verify compliance and accuracy of documentation.

• Assist with release-of-information tasks in alignment with regulatory standards.

• Engage in process improvement and quality assurance efforts.

• Uphold compliance with HIPAA and all relevant privacy and security regulations.

• Work collaboratively with internal teams, providers, and client stakeholders.

• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in HIM, medical records, or a related healthcare field.

• Familiarity with medical terminology and health record documentation standards.

• Prior experience in an EHR environment is preferred.

• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.

• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and requirements for protected health information.

• Current permanent U.S. work authorization is required.

• An associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field is preferred.

• RHIT or RHIA certification is preferred.

• Experience in chart analysis, record completion, and documentation management workflows is preferred.
