This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.
• Provide training for newly graduated coders in the areas of facility ancillary, emergency room, ambulatory surgery, and inpatient accounts.
• Conduct audits on accounts coded by coding trainees.
• Assess the progress and proficiency of coding trainees.
• Make determinations regarding trainee readiness for coding at each level and recommend opportunities for advancement.
• Evaluate new graduates of the coding program.
• Prepare coders for certification exams such as CCS, CPC, CRC, and/or specialty certifications.
• Assist in the development of curriculum and training programs for both in-person and virtual classroom environments.
• Utilize educational software including HealthStream, MedLearn, and other available tools.
• Maintain ongoing education to remain up-to-date on coding regulations and requirements.
• Collaborate with HIM management to design curriculum and instruct on coding guidelines and regulations.
• Report directly to the Health Information Manager.
• Prepare and administer performance evaluations.
• Work in conjunction with other healthcare professionals and staff.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required for facility coding.
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) is preferred.
• 5 to 7 years of relevant experience is required.
• 5-7 years of coding experience is necessary.
• Experience in coding all types of facility accounts is essential.
• A minimum score of 85% on the pre-employment coding test is required.
• Capability to train coders remotely.
• Proficiency in utilizing related software and computer/PC skills.
• Advanced knowledge of coding practices is essential.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to analyze data and generate reports using MS Office is necessary.
• Demonstrated expertise in various types of coding is required.
• Knowledge of the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) is preferred.
• Experience with EPIC and Optum is preferred.
• Training experience is preferred.
• Full-time employment.
• Monday to Friday dayshift schedule.
