Head of Tutor Strategy – Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the Tutor Operations team focusing on tutor supply acquisition and retention, session consistency and quality, customer service, tutor community engagement, and manual operations.

• Establish ambitious objectives, mentor team members, provide constructive feedback, and foster individual development.

• Propel top-line growth by influencing the Tutor's growth strategy in collaboration with Product.

• Incorporate frontline insights into roadmap decisions and staff launches, ensuring the necessary operational support is in place.

• Manage the supply aspect of the marketplace, ensuring a balanced mix of tutors across various subjects, grades, time slots, languages, and locations.

• Enhance customer support for families and tutors by increasing speed, accuracy, automation, and lowering the cost per contact.

• Prioritize team initiatives, safeguard capacity, and align processes with business results.

• Proven track record in people management and leadership.

• Experience in leading operations within a tech organization, preferably in a marketplace environment.

• Strong analytical skills to establish measurable objectives, interpret data, and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Accountability for business results, rather than merely managing processes.

• Capability to challenge and refine the thinking of senior leaders.

• Hands-on execution experience and the use of AI to enhance productivity.

• Significant overlap in working hours with one of the Americas time zones.

• Bonus: experience in teaching, tutoring, or within the edtech sector.

• Bonus: background in scaling support or operations through automation and AI instead of increasing headcount.

• Bonus: experience managing operations for international or new market expansion.
