Head of Threat Research

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Define team objectives for the research and development of innovative victim intelligence collection and analysis capabilities to enhance the coverage of significant victim intelligence.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of malware researchers and analysts.

• Drive the creation and implementation of advanced malware emulators, trackers, and crawlers to gather infection telemetry.

• Propel research efforts into intricate C2 communication channels, such as P2P, direct IP, and hybrid models, to ensure visibility over botnets.

• Take ownership of victim intelligence data quality and promote continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams to convert threat telemetry into scalable product functionalities.

• Manage domain and malware triage workflows.

• Establish priorities for targeted malware investigations.

• Advocate for the enhancement of Bitsight’s product features by integrating evolving victim intelligence capabilities and data.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive subject matter expertise in malware infrastructure and C2 methodologies.

• Experience in developing detection rules and extracting IOCs from malware analysis.

• Proven ability to manage and lead high-performing technical teams in a research or security-centered environment.

• A track record of successfully architecting complex technical workflows, such as malware analysis, telemetry collection, or large-scale data processing.

• Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the capability to identify and resolve ambiguous issues.

• Proficient in standard scripting languages, including Python and Go.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
