Head of Technology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the VendHub product and technology roadmap.

• Convert company strategy, operator requirements, supplier needs, and revenue goals into a detailed product plan.

• Provide prioritization recommendations for marketplace, SaaS features, checkout, payments, integrations, reporting, user permissions, supplier onboarding, and platform tooling.

• Decide what should be developed internally, what should be integrated, or what can be deferred.

• Lead the technical direction for the VendHub platform.

• Supervise architecture, infrastructure, integrations, APIs, payment flows, marketplace functionality, data models, permissions, security, scalability, and system reliability.

• Manage both internal and/or external engineering resources.

• Ensure that engineering tasks are well-scoped, sequenced, documented, tested, and delivered.

• Identify technical risks while balancing speed, quality, cost, and scalability.

• Own the strategic roadmap and development backlog.

• Collaborate with the COO, CEO, engineering, customer success, sales, finance, and supplier-facing teams.

• Directly oversee the Product Operations Associate.

• Manage checkout processes, payments, tax, shipping, attribution, supplier onboarding, product listings, rebates, reporting, and transaction workflows.

• Assess third-party tools and integrations.

• Define key data across users, operators, suppliers, products, transactions, subscriptions, equipment orders, and marketplace activities.

• Ensure accurate reporting on adoption, GMV, product usage, supplier performance, feature utilization, and operational bottlenecks.

• Maintain the integrity of the underlying data model.

• Oversee platform scalability, build-versus-buy decisions, vendor/tool selection, product and technical tradeoffs, final acceptance of major releases, and alignment of product/technology with business objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in product, technology, engineering leadership, technical product management, SaaS platforms, marketplaces, or related technology fields.

• Strong technical judgment, even if not actively coding on a daily basis.

• Proven experience in owning or significantly influencing product roadmaps.

• Capability to manage engineers, technical vendors, or development teams.

• Proficient in translating business needs into technical requirements and development priorities.

• Solid understanding of SaaS platforms, integrations, APIs, data models, payments, user permissions, and reporting workflows.

• Ability to make clear tradeoff decisions in a dynamic startup environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience working directly with executive leadership to convert strategic priorities into actionable plans.

• Familiarity with marketplaces, payments, fintech workflows, B2B SaaS, e-commerce, logistics, equipment sales, or supplier/vendor platforms.

• Experience with Stripe, tax/shipping integrations, CRM systems, reporting tools, entitlement logic, API integrations, or admin tooling.

• Background in vending, unattended retail, micro-markets, CPG, equipment sales, or operator-facing software.

• Previous experience managing junior product, product operations, QA, or technical operations personnel.

• Must possess strong technical judgment.

• Must be capable of owning both product roadmap and technology execution.

• Must be comfortable making decisions with incomplete information.

• Must be able to manage engineering resources effectively.

• Must be commercially practical.

• Must be able to differentiate between urgent issues and strategic product work.

• Must be adept at managing a junior product operations resource efficiently.
