Head of Research – Editorial

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take the lead in Weave Intelligence and spearhead the intellectual agenda of Platform Engineering.

• Create and uphold the research agenda, as well as the editorial calendar, evidence standards, and research team.

• Establish the quarterly thematic calendar encompassing reports, articles, webinars, courses, and videos.

• Ensure alignment of content, events, and sales around a cohesive narrative.

• Balance original thought leadership supported by proprietary data with swift market analysis.

• Direct the analyst practice, which includes methodology and editorial responsibility for significant reports, market guides, and vendor briefings.

• Uphold and protect the editorial firewall that distinguishes sponsorship from conclusions.

• Publish frequently under your own name and serve as the analyst chair at company and industry events.

• Conduct briefings for vendors and enterprises, creating structured perspectives on the vendor landscape.

• Lead and nurture the content team and brand designers.

• Forge relationships with media outlets, analyst firms, and independent voices for co-published research, syndication, and collaborative formats.

• Collaborate with founders on public positioning and enhance company ideas through stages and publications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in roles related to technology market analysis and thought leadership, such as industry analyst, editor, lead writer at a technical publication, content or product marketing lead, or developer advocacy lead.

• In-depth expertise in platform engineering, developer tooling, cloud infrastructure, or AI adoption in software development.

• Capability to engage credibly with staff engineers and CTOs.

• A portfolio of published work under your own name.

• Ability to support industry viewpoints with substantial evidence.

• Strong narrative judgment.

• Editorial rigor encompassing methodology, sourcing, and fact-checking.

• Experience in leading and developing a small team of writers, researchers, or producers.

• Comfort in public speaking, whether on stage, on camera, or in vendor leadership briefings.

• Strong organizational skills with regard to calendars, standards, and publishing schedules.

• Outstanding written and verbal English skills.

• Willingness to travel a few times per year for events and offsite meetings.

• Familiarity with survey design and quantitative research methods is a plus.

• Existing relationships within the cloud-native and developer tooling ecosystem are advantageous.

• Hands-on experience in engineering or platform development is a plus.

• Experience working in a startup or scale-up environment, along with remote, globally distributed teams, is a plus.
