Head of Project Toxicology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Define and spearhead the safety assessment strategy for Evotec’s drug discovery and development portfolio.

• Propel science-driven safety decision-making from initial concept through to regulatory submission.

• Act as the primary liaison between discovery and development safety teams.

• Influence program direction and enhance strategic partnerships across various modalities and therapeutic areas.

• Lead and cultivate a high-performing team of toxicology specialists.

• Own and progress the safety strategy for both internal initiatives and external collaborations.

• Direct safety strategy from Target Safety Assessment to Development Candidate nomination.

• Assist in the design, execution, and analysis of regulatory toxicology studies for Phase 1 clinical trials and beyond.

• Establish collaborative relationships with global clients and ensure alignment on safety strategies.

• Promote integration and cohesive decision-making across internal departments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant senior-level experience in Toxicology within biotech, pharmaceutical, and/or CRO environments.

• Proven experience leading interdisciplinary, cross-functional teams within a complex matrix environment.

• Exceptional communication and scientific synthesis abilities.

• Successful track record of advancing programs from preclinical discovery into clinical development across various modalities and therapeutic areas.

• In-depth expertise in preclinical drug discovery models.

• Experience in managing stakeholder dynamics, resolving conflicts, and collaborating across discovery, clinical, regulatory, and operational functions.

• Experience in preparing and contributing to successful IND/CTA submissions for small-molecule and biologics programs.

• Comprehensive understanding of global regulatory safety guidelines.

• Strong organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, and effective time-management capabilities.

• Creative and strategic problem-solving skills, adaptability, curiosity, and openness to new methodologies and emerging scientific concepts.

• BSc, MSc, or PhD in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Biology, or a related scientific field, with significant relevant experience.

• DBAT, ERT, UKRT, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
