This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Oversee the origination, structuring, negotiation, and execution of long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), tolling agreements, environmental product contracts, and capacity contracts for ARC fusion power facilities.
• Establish and nurture strategic relationships with key customers, including utilities, electric cooperatives, hyperscalers, industrial off-takers, and governmental entities.
• Develop and execute wholesale and retail origination strategies to secure contracted revenue streams that support project financing and long-term business goals.
• Provide commercial guidance during utility procurement processes, competitive solicitations, bilateral negotiations, and responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
• Collaborate effectively with project development, finance, legal, external affairs, and engineering teams.
• Build, mentor, and oversee a high-performing origination team.
• Create innovative contract structures while minimizing contractual risks in the deployment of novel fusion power plants.
• Identify lucrative power markets, Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs), and advantageous regulatory frameworks.
• Monitor trends in the energy market, resource plans, and regulatory changes across North American RTOs/ISOs.
• Develop and manage the commercial framework for project opportunities; analyze market data, evaluate risks, and present recommendations to executive leadership.
• Represent CFS at industry events, customer meetings, and strategic forums.
• Supervise post-execution lifecycle management and ensure contractual compliance.
• Facilitate innovative solutions to fairly allocate risk between involved parties.
• Prioritize competing projects and deadlines, take initiative in ambiguous startup settings, and make crucial project-related decisions.
• Prepare high-quality materials for diverse external audiences and respectfully challenge senior leadership with data-driven arguments.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technologies, Business, Finance, Economics, Math, Physics, or a related discipline, OR 10+ years of progressive experience in the energy sector, with a minimum of 5 years specifically in power origination, structured energy sales, or power marketing.
• Demonstrated success in originating and finalizing large-scale, long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), tolling agreements, environmental product contracts, or capacity contracts.
• In-depth technical knowledge of North American wholesale power markets, RTO/ISO market regulations, transmission dynamics, and commercial risk management.
• Well-established network of executive contacts across utilities, corporate/hyperscaler procurement teams, and wholesale counterparts.
• Strong financial acumen with direct experience collaborating with project finance teams to ensure contract viability and acceptable risk-adjusted returns.
• Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and communication abilities, with a history of engaging with C-suite executives and investment committees.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with the capability to excel in a high-growth environment and convert broad, ambiguous opportunities into executed agreements.
• Ability to perform typing, standing, and sitting for extended durations.
• Willingness to travel occasionally or work nights/weekends/on-call; up to 25% travel required.
• Capability to work in an environment with industrial hazards, including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.
