This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +2 more countries.
• Act as a vital member of the Butterfly Leadership Team and Executive Leadership Team, directly reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.
• Take charge of Butterfly’s commercial expansion outside the US in EMEA, APAC, LATAM, and other key international markets.
• Develop, scale, and oversee Butterfly’s global distribution network throughout the complete distributor lifecycle, from market prioritization and partner identification to negotiation, onboarding, launch, sell-through, and ongoing performance management.
• Propel revenue growth and distributor productivity through go-to-market strategies, training, pipeline and forecasting expectations, marketing support, and performance KPIs.
• Maintain a robust operational cadence to stimulate demand, enhance performance, and optimize or replace partnerships as necessary.
• Supervise Butterfly’s direct commercial operations in the UK and Germany, determining the suitable direct, distributor, or hybrid model by market.
• Lead the international commercial team and cooperate with Sales Operations, Marketing, Professional Services, Finance, and Legal to establish a repeatable framework for entering and scaling in international markets.
• Expand and guide the international sales team across various markets and time zones.
• Over 15 years of experience in Sales Leadership and/or Commercial Leadership, with substantial experience in managing international markets.
• Proven success in building and scaling distributor and channel partner networks across multiple countries or regions.
• Established ability to identify, recruit, evaluate, negotiate with, onboard, and launch new distribution partners.
• History of driving measurable sell-through and revenue growth through distributors, beyond merely signing or managing partner agreements.
• Experience in establishing distributor business plans, revenue targets, pipeline expectations, forecasting processes, KPIs, and performance management routines.
• Demonstrated capability to empower distributors through sales training, product education, marketing initiatives, demand generation, and joint customer engagement.
• Experience in managing underperforming distributors, including formulating corrective action plans, renegotiating commercial agreements, and transitioning to new partners where appropriate.
• Ability to evaluate new markets and determine the suitable commercial model, whether direct, distributor, or hybrid approaches.
• Previous experience in healthcare/medical device sales, preferably with ultrasound equipment and/or highly transactional medical device sales.
• At least 5 years of field sales experience within the Medical Device sector.
• Experience in selling SaaS or cloud-based enterprise software; preferred experience in EMR and Healthcare IT sales.
• Capability to identify key opportunity aspects, nurture opportunities through closure, engage channel partners effectively, and manage customer relationships for long-term success.
• Strong history of utilizing data, analytics, and commercial insights to inform decisions and resource allocation.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50% internationally, with overnight stays depending on geography and business requirements.
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills, possessing executive presence and experience in building relationships with C-suite executives, confidently representing the value and capabilities of Butterfly’s products.
• Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms, along with familiarity with business and analytical tools such as Tableau, Power BI, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Self-motivated and highly accountable, with the resilience to attain ambitious goals in complex and evolving international markets.
• Comfortable functioning in an entrepreneurial, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment.
• Collaborative and team-oriented leadership style, with the ability to influence across functions and geographical regions.
• Proven experience in hiring, developing, coaching, and retaining high-performing commercial teams.
• Ability to lead geographically distributed sales teams and effectively escalate and support strategic opportunities.
• Strong aptitude for building relationships with distributor owners, executives, sales leaders, and field teams, fostering alignment and accountability at various levels of a partner organization.
• Capacity to cultivate a high-performance culture among both Butterfly employees and external distribution partners.
• Skilled at balancing robust partner relationships with clear commercial accountability, including conducting difficult performance conversations when necessary.
• Fluency in English is required. (Additional fluency in German is a plus but not mandatory.)
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Germany, the UK, or the Netherlands and must not require current or future employment visa sponsorship.
