Head of Exchange Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the product vision and roadmap for Kraken's exchange layer, which encompasses the matching engine, core infrastructure, third-party custody, algo engine, and API engine.

• Lead and develop a team of four to five product managers.

• Establish high standards for product craftsmanship across the exchange infrastructure layer.

• Oversee the integration of multiple matching engines into a single solution, starting with US derivatives, followed by international derivatives, and then spot trading.

• Create an interface-agnostic platform catering to all product teams and interfaces.

• Define success metrics, including p99 latency, throughput, uptime, and resilience.

• Ensure teams remain accountable to established success metrics.

• Collaborate with engineering leaders to plan migration sequences that do not disrupt live markets.

• Work alongside Risk and Credit Infrastructure, enabling clients to maintain a single account for trading all products.

• Anticipate changes in the industry and adjust the platform accordingly.

• Align product, engineering, risk, and compliance teams with the exchange strategy.

• Stay engaged with the work and independently manage roadmaps, writing specifications as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Senior product leader with experience in trading, exchanges, or high-performance platforms.

• Proven experience in managing and developing product managers.

• Capability to function as a player-coach, taking ownership of roadmaps and writing specifications.

• Demonstrated ability to establish a product vision and convert it into a long-term roadmap.

• Strong knowledge of matching engine and market data architecture.

• Understanding of low-latency trade-offs.

• Experience in developing platforms for internal customers.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• A deep passion for crypto markets, market structure, and infrastructure.

• Nice to have: an engineering background with experience in building or operating high-performance systems.

• Nice to have: experience across spot and derivatives trading venues.

• Nice to have: experience at a crypto exchange with similar scale, volume, and uptime expectations.

• Nice to have: platform roadmaps that interconnect with adjacent product organizations.
