Head of Exchange Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the product vision and roadmap for Kraken's exchange layer, which encompasses the matching engine, core infrastructure, third-party custody, algorithm engine, and API engine.

• Lead and develop a team of four to five product managers.

• Establish the benchmark for product excellence across the exchange layer.

• Integrate multiple matching engines into a single solution, starting with US derivatives, followed by international derivatives, and then spot trading.

• Create an interface-agnostic platform that serves all product teams and interfaces.

• Define and implement success metrics, including p99 latency, throughput, uptime, and resilience.

• Collaborate with engineering leaders to plan migration without impacting live markets.

• Work in partnership with Risk and Credit Infrastructure to facilitate a unified account for trading all products.

• Anticipate changes in the industry and adapt the platform accordingly.

• Align product, engineering, risk, and compliance teams with the exchange strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Senior product leader with experience in exchanges, trading, or high-performance platforms.

• Proven experience in managing and developing product managers.

• Ability to function as both a player-coach, taking personal responsibility for roadmaps and writing specifications.

• Demonstrated capability to establish product vision and translate it into a comprehensive long-term roadmap.

• Strong comprehension of matching engine and market data architecture.

• Knowledge of low-latency trade-offs.

• Experience in building platforms for internal clients.

• Ability to differentiate between a platform and custom builds.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Enthusiasm for crypto markets, market structure, and infrastructure.

• Engineering background in operating high-performance systems (preferred).

• Experience in both spot and derivatives venues (preferred).

• Background at a crypto exchange operating at similar scale, volume, and uptime standards (preferred).

• Proven track record in developing platform roadmaps that integrate with adjacent product organizations (preferred).

• Must select a work country and city in the application.

• Must indicate whether work sponsorship will be required.
