Head of Engineering, Field Verification

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Field Verification platform.

• Transition the platform from maintenance mode to focused development activities.

• Lead and nurture the existing cross-functional team while expanding the organization as the scope grows.

• Develop trip and route optimization, task allocation, and capacity management systems for field officers.

• Manage APIs, webhooks, and back-office integrations utilized by other business units.

• Provide a native mobile experience tailored for field officers.

• Ensure that verification data is organized, auditable, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

• Construct the platform to support multi-country growth.

• Collaborate with Product, onboarding, loans, compliance, and fraud business units.

• Establish architecture standards, engineering processes, and quality metrics.

• Recruit and develop engineers as well as Engineering Managers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in building systems and advancing from engineering roles into leadership positions.

• Proficiency across backend, web, and mobile development disciplines.

• Background in creating platforms that serve multiple user groups and internal business units.

• Over 10 years of overall experience in software engineering.

• Significant hands-on production engineering experience with a strong emphasis on backend development.

• A minimum of 5 years in engineering leadership, including experience managing Engineering Managers.

• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.

• Strong ability to collaborate with Product and business stakeholders.

• Experience with location and geospatial data, particularly map integrations, is highly advantageous.

• Familiarity with route, trip, or delivery optimization is a notable advantage.

• Experience in building systems that focus on compliance is a significant plus.

• Knowledge of identity verification, KYC, or verification platforms is beneficial but not mandatory.
