Head of Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the production architecture from the compiled clinical artifact to point-of-care implementation.

• Specify compiler-runtime interfaces while ensuring provenance, versioning, deterministic behavior, auditability, and safe rollback.

• Deliver across the entire stack and assess critical designs and code.

• Troubleshoot complex production and integration issues.

• Convert clinical deployments into reusable platform capabilities while maintaining significant jurisdictional and workflow distinctions.

• Set standards for testing, observability, security, releases, and incident response.

• Recruit and nurture a small, exceptional engineering team.

• Report directly to the CEO and work collaboratively with technical staff, clinicians, and health-system collaborators.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven track record in building and managing a significant production system from start to finish.

• Over 10 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Extensive experience in hiring and mentoring engineers while actively contributing technically.

• Knowledge across backend, data, infrastructure, and product engineering, with notable expertise in at least one area.

• Strong discernment regarding state, versioning, provenance, observability, security, and failure recovery.

• Product insight to clarify complex behaviors without obscuring details essential for clinical decisions.

• Effective and precise communication skills with engineering, research, clinical, and external teams.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States or Canada.

• Experience with FHIR, HL7, EHRs, or other intricate interoperability settings (preferred).

• Background in healthcare, regulated software, or another safety-critical field (preferred).

• Familiarity with compilers, rules engines, developer platforms, or rigorously assessed ML systems (preferred).
