Head of Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Evaluate the current architecture to determine what should be rebuilt versus what can be refactored.

• Assemble, mentor, and develop a contemporary engineering team suited for the AI era.

• Establish technical standards, systems, and deployment methodologies.

• Work closely with the CEO to align on product strategy and key priorities.

• Collaborate with the AI Coach and product teams to implement new features.

• Make technical decisions with a focus on long-term ownership.

• Ensure the platform maintains speed, reliability, and scalability across all aspects.

• Contribute to shaping the next phase of ChessMood’s growth.

• Prepare the product to accommodate the forthcoming AI Coach and millions of chess learners.

⛳️ Requirements

• A profound passion for and interest in chess.

• Practical experience with AI-generated code.

• Familiarity with tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, or similar applications.

• Strong emotional intelligence coupled with effective communication skills.

• Ability to foster relationships with engineers, the CEO, and cross-functional colleagues.

• Ideally possess full-stack development capabilities.

• Competence in making architectural decisions, crafting effective prompts, and assessing AI-generated outputs.

• Willingness to develop and lead an engineering team.

• Openness to engage hands-on with the entire technology stack.

• A mindset oriented towards long-term ownership.

• Not looking for a conventional 9-to-5 office role with a predefined task list.
