Head of DevOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of DevOps engineers

• Supervise environment versioning, configuration management, and infrastructure automation

• Convert text-based configurations into a generator-based method that supports multiple servers and development expansions

• Foster the collection of DevOps knowledge and provide team training

• Oversee recruitment, training, task distribution, and delivery oversight

• Promote the adoption of DevOps best practices, such as monitoring, incident response, and security enhancement

• Continuously assess and incorporate new technologies to enhance reliability, scalability, and delivery speed

• Collaborate with engineering, QA, and client delivery teams

• Cultivate DevOps culture and manage the allocation of DevOps resources

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in DevOps/SRE, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or managerial role

• Experience interacting with multiple external customers

• Strong familiarity with version control systems: Git and SVN

• Robust background in Linux systems administration (preferably RedHat 8)

• Experience with database application versioning

• Experience with large, non-cloud-based systems

• Proficient in scripting languages (Python preferred)

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English

• Experience managing production systems in a mission-critical setting

• Preferred: experience in the financial sector, particularly in low-latency trading systems

• Preferred: knowledge of RPM packaging and software delivery processes

• Preferred: hands-on experience with MariaDB/MySQL, including DBA-level management and optimization

• Preferred: experience with messaging systems (e.g., Solace), Solarflare network cards, and BigData tools

• Preferred: background in optimizing C++ applications on Linux

• Preferred: understanding of security best practices in on-premise environments

• Preferred: demonstrated experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, etc.)

• Preferred: expertise in automation tools (Ansible preferred) and infrastructure scripting

• Preferred: experience in writing internal technical documentation and release notes

• Preferred: comprehensive understanding of container technologies, especially Docker
