Head of Development – Data-Viz, B2B SaaS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Lead and expand the engineering team across Dataviz, Frontend, Backend, Integrations, and DevOps.

• Establish technical direction, assist team members in overcoming obstacles, review code, and enhance quality standards.

• Take ownership of overall architecture, technology selections, and platform scalability.

• Guide the development of TypeScript/React web and desktop applications, along with Go/Postgres backend systems.

• Propel the creation of the browser-based TypeScript data visualization engine and its interaction interfaces.

• Manage third-party integrations, including Google Slides, Microsoft PowerPoint, SSO/IdP providers, and app marketplace visibility.

• Oversee CI/CD and deployment workflows.

• Maintain production systems hosted on Vercel and AWS, including ECS and RDS.

• Manage Docker-based preview environments and essential business systems.

• Support data protection, uphold security standards, and ensure documentation, policies, and technical risk management are in place.

• Coordinate releases, troubleshoot complex bugs, collaborate with engineers, and address customer integration challenges.

• Continue to write and deploy code hands-on when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal English skills (essential).

• Proficiency in German is advantageous.

• A minimum of 3 years of practical software engineering experience.

• Some experience in leading or mentoring a team, either formally or informally.

• Extensive practical knowledge of TypeScript/React and Go.

• Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.

• Familiarity with contemporary DevOps and CI/CD methodologies.

• Experience in developing third-party integrations and designing clean APIs.

• Proven history of delivering in a SaaS setting with continuous deployment.

• A genuine interest in data visualization.

• Strong communication abilities and a commercial mindset.

• A proactive approach.

• Experience with Postgres at scale, Office/Google add-ins, and Vercel/ECS/RDS production environments is a plus.
