This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of credit and fraud strategy along with policy management throughout the customer lifecycle, encompassing acquisition, underwriting, and account management.
• Define the credit risk appetite and convert it into credit policies, approval criteria, and loss targets.
• Strike a balance between loss rates, approval rates, and conversion to ensure profitable growth.
• Spearhead growth initiatives and maintain a disciplined test-and-learn agenda with well-defined success metrics.
• Oversee credit performance monitoring, vintage analysis, early-warning indicators, loss forecasting, and model governance collaborations.
• Detect emerging credit and fraud threats and enact timely policy and control modifications.
• Ensure that policies comply with regulatory standards, fair lending practices, and partner requirements in coordination with Legal & Compliance.
• Recruit, nurture, and lead professionals in credit, fraud, and strategy.
• Develop a blend of in-house talent, third-party partnerships, and automation tools, including AI.
• Set up operational rhythms, including credit committee materials, portfolio reviews, knowledge bases, and leadership updates.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on corporate strategy, planning, growth objectives, and risk appetite.
• Deliver performance updates, forecasts, risks, and recommendations to executives, the Board, and capital partners.
• Work in partnership with Pricing, Data Science, Data Strategy, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Capital Markets, Finance, and Legal & Compliance.
• Manage the function’s analytics workflow, metrics, dashboards, and reporting.
• Serve as a senior credit liaison for credit unions, banks, and institutional investors.
• Lead credit-related due diligence, audits, reviews, forward flow, loan sale, and financing discussions with partners and investors.
• A college degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Science, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
• Over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry.
• More than 8 years of credit risk experience, including direct responsibility for credit strategy or policy decisions within a consumer lending portfolio.
• Experience in leading or closely collaborating on fraud risk strategy and controls.
• A proven history of building, leading, and developing high-performing teams, including remote and multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust across cross-functional teams and foster constructive feedback.
• Experience in presenting substantiated data-driven strategic decisions to C-suite executives, boards, and external partners or investors.
• Direct experience collaborating with capital partners, banks, lenders, or investors regarding credit performance, due diligence, or credit program design.
• A track record of effective collaboration with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Operations to develop and scale credit and fraud decision-making processes and systems.
• Familiarity with consumer lending regulations, including fair lending (ECOA / Regulation B), FCRA, and model risk management.
• Highly data-driven, with the technical ability to critically assess models, analyses, and dashboards.
• Experience balancing individual contributions with team management responsibilities.
• Preferred: experience in fintech or smaller financial services; unsecured consumer lending; bank or credit union partnership models, forward flow or loan sale programs; credit policy development for new product launches; management of a consumer lending portfolio during a credit downturn; advanced degree.
