This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Collaborate with Engineering teams and Technical Program Management on compliance assessments and audits initiated by Samsara OEM commercial vehicle partners, from intake to completion.
• Work in conjunction with the Application Security team on threat modeling and firmware analysis.
• Convert compliance requirements into tangible, actionable engineering solutions.
• Oversee Samsara’s FirstNet Program and manage annual certification activities.
• Investigate and suggest solutions to compliance gaps, considering trade-offs and clearly communicating risks.
• Engage in discussions with customers and auditors regarding Samsara's device security posture, aiming for independent ownership.
• Recognize and develop automation for audit requirements and evidence collection.
• Promote and integrate Samsara’s cultural principles as the organization expands globally and across new offices.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant compliance or engineering experience.
• Familiarity with carrier or cellular per-device certification for public-safety or first-responder wireless networks, or comparable programs (e.g., FirstNet).
• Practical experience with ISO 21434 processes, including Item Definition, TARA (Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment), Cybersecurity Goals and Concepts, and Cybersecurity System Requirements.
• Experience in validation and verification of control requirements, including exposure to penetration testing and independent assessments.
• Solid understanding of automotive cybersecurity fundamentals: key and certificate management, authenticated boot, flash, OTA, diagnostic access, authenticated messaging, encryption trade-offs, and HSMs.
• Capability to research and propose solutions with transparent trade-off reasoning.
• Proficient in communicating risks effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Familiarity with UNECE R155 and RED / EN 18031 is preferred.
• Background in an OEM or automotive innovation and autonomy group is advantageous.
• Previous experience with OEM partnership-driven compliance efforts involving commercial vehicle manufacturers is ideal.
• Candidates must reside in the United States, excluding Alaska, the Austin metro area, California, the Chicago metro area, Connecticut, the Dallas metro area, the Denver metro area, Houston metro area, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, and the Washington DC metro area.
• Legal authorization to work at Samsara and in the specified work location is required.
