Greek Speaking Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt.

📋 Description

• Deliver precise, complete, and respectful video interpreting services between English and Greek, including occasional over-the-phone sessions.

• Facilitate communication accurately without adding, omitting, or modifying the intended meaning.

• Adhere to professional interpreter ethics, standards of practice, and company policies.

• Uphold confidentiality and comply with relevant healthcare privacy regulations.

• Exhibit cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse backgrounds, communication styles, and patient preferences.

• Maintain professional behavior and sound judgment regarding the boundaries of the interpreter role.

• Adapt to changing technology, workflows, and service demands.

• Engage in necessary training, coaching, and quality improvement activities.

• Complete the structured evaluation process and foundational training prior to participating in live sessions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Fluent and professional verbal communication skills in both English and Greek.

• A genuine understanding of medical interpreting; this may stem from informal experiences, such as interpreting for family, rather than formal employment.

• Capability to interpret medical information accurately and thoroughly in both languages.

• Willingness to undertake a medical interpreting proficiency assessment as part of the application process.

• Cultural awareness and comfort operating within the US healthcare system.

• Strong professional reliability and sound judgment, accompanied by a customer service-oriented mindset.

• Proficient in using video conferencing platforms and adapting to new remote technologies.

• Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.

• Designated home workspace for this position: a private, distraction-free room equipped with a locking door, no visibility to others, and wired high-speed internet; no Wi-Fi, hotspot, satellite, or DSL connections.

• Comfortable being on camera for the majority of each work shift.

• Based in Egypt and able to work remotely.

• Available for night shift hours in alignment with US Eastern Time (ET).

• Prior experience in medical interpreting, formal medical interpreter training, relevant certifications or degrees, national medical interpreter certification, video or telephone interpreting experience, and knowledge of medical terminology are beneficial but not mandatory.
