Grants & Uniform Guidance Finance Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Review the financial processes post-award to ensure compliance with 2 CFR 200 cost principles, including allowability, allocability, and documentation standards.

• Evaluate effort reporting and certification practices, encompassing cost sharing and salaries charged to awards.

• Analyze the application of F&A (indirect cost) rates, negotiated rate agreements, and cost-allocation methods related to sponsored projects.

• Reconcile ledgers for sponsored projects, including cost transfers, drawdowns, and financial reports in accordance with sponsor requirements.

• Take the lead or provide support for award closeouts, including final financial reports, residual balances, and subaward closeouts.

• Enhance subrecipient monitoring, internal controls, and documented procedures in preparation for the Single Audit review.

• Contribute qualifications and past-performance narratives to AlphaGov proposals when authorized to be named.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in post-award or sponsored-projects accounting within a university or research institution.

• Proficient knowledge of 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance), specifically regarding cost principles, effort reporting, and F&A application.

• Practical experience with award closeouts, cost transfers, and financial reporting for federal sponsors.

• Comfortable working as a 1099 project-based consultant, with a remote-first approach and occasional travel to client sites.

• Experience in supporting Single Audits or federal agency audits and reviews.

• Familiarity with research administration or grants accounting systems, such as Workday, Kuali, Huron, or PeopleSoft Grants.

• CRA, CPA, or a similar certification is a plus.
