This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Evaluate, develop, and oversee outgoing subawards for the University.
• Establish subawards in ResearchUVA and Workday Financials.
• Examine subrecipients for adherence to University, federal, state, and sponsor regulations.
• Identify, articulate, and address subaward review issues through communication and follow-up with relevant stakeholders.
• Analyze and negotiate outgoing subaward agreements, amendments, and other collaborative research contracts.
• Conduct risk assessments regarding subrecipients' capability to fulfill subaward responsibilities.
• Manage a diverse portfolio and provide guidance to faculty and staff on research administration compliance.
• Ensure adherence to FAR, Uniform Guidance, sponsor policies, and related regulations.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures for subrecipient monitoring, document collection, and subaward review and execution.
• Mentor and support new administrators.
• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.
• Act as a primary contact for subrecipients and UVA departments.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
• An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Strong listening and communication abilities.
• Capability to learn new systems and quickly understand new concepts and processes.
• Ability to work independently while also being an active contributor to the Pre-Award team.
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
• Experience with grants and contracts in research administration within a higher education institution is preferred.
• Familiarity with contractual provisions from federal and non-federal prime sponsors, Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) templates, and related subaward terms and conditions.
• Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification or similar qualification is preferred.
• Must not require sponsorship at this time.
• Successful completion of a background check is necessary prior to employment.
