General Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Define and spearhead Runway’s go-to-market strategy for Japan, with an emphasis on high-value enterprise accounts.

• Drive commercial growth across sectors such as media, entertainment, advertising, brands, and technology.

• Identify potential enterprise and distribution partnerships.

• Foster relationships with C-suite executives at leading Japanese companies.

• Adapt product and marketing strategies for the Japanese market in collaboration with the Product, Creative, and Marketing teams.

• Act as a subject matter expert on the competitive landscape in Japan and the broader Asia region, including regulatory factors and emerging AI trends.

• Establish the Japan office by recruiting, leading, and mentoring local enterprise account executives, growth leads, and deployment leads.

• Represent Runway at industry events, conferences, and in media appearances.

• Potentially take on Country Manager duties for Tokyo-based candidates, overseeing local operations and acting as Runway’s primary representative in Japan.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise software, media technology, or high-growth AI startups.

• Demonstrated leadership ability in building and nurturing high-performance teams.

• Native proficiency in Japanese.

• Professional proficiency in English.

• Capability to facilitate communication between U.S. teams and local stakeholders.

• Established network within major Japanese media companies, advertising agencies, or significant technology conglomerates.

• In-depth knowledge of Japanese business etiquette.

• Proficiency in navigating complex organizational structures.

• Comfort with uncertainty in early-stage international expansion.

• Ability to employ first-principles thinking to close deals and create scalable processes.

• Candidates based in Tokyo may take on additional Country Manager responsibilities.
