This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design, construct, and uphold scalable cloud infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code, primarily with Terraform.
• Deploy and oversee Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine clusters, Cloud Run, and Cloud Functions.
• Configure and manage VPCs, including subnetting, firewall rules, VPN/Interconnect, Cloud Load Balancing, certificate management, and Cloud DNS.
• Administer compute resources across Compute Engine, Cloud Run, and Cloud SQL.
• Implement and assist in managing IAM roles and permissions in accordance with the principle of least privilege.
• Manage secrets using GCP Secret Manager.
• Oversee Cloud Armor and Identity-Aware Proxy.
• Utilize Security Command Center to identify and resolve vulnerabilities.
• Contribute to ensuring the environment complies with standards such as SOC2.
• Establish monitoring and alerting using Google Cloud Observability.
• Develop and test backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Execute system patching and image hardening.
• Monitor cloud consumption and implement cost-saving initiatives.
• Set up billing alerts and resource-labeling standards.
• Lead the migration of on-premises batch scheduling workloads to GCP Composer/Apache Airflow.
• Design and implement scalable Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) for data pipelines and batch jobs.
• Analyze legacy schedules for opportunities in parallelization, optimization, and modernization.
• Manage cutover events ensuring zero data loss and minimal downtime.
• Participate in on-call support and emergency troubleshooting.
• 3–5+ years of professional experience managing production environments in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• 3–5 years of proven experience facilitating the migration of on-premises batch scheduling systems to GCP Composer or Apache Airflow.
• Demonstrated expertise with Terraform for provisioning cloud resources.
• Strong proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes (K8s).
• Expert-level knowledge of Linux administration.
• In-depth understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and Load Balancing.
• Availability for support during standard business hours and after hours as needed.
• GCP Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Data Engineer certification is preferred.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Google Cloud Build is preferred.
• Proficiency in Python, particularly for Airflow/Composer DAG development, is preferred.
• Participation in an on-call rotation.
• Availability for emergency troubleshooting during weekends or overnight in the event of a critical system failure.
• Scheduling maintenance windows and migration cutovers during off-peak hours.
