This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Identify, prioritize, and initiate improvements to energy regulation and policy in Great Britain.
• Determine obstacles to storage projects and avenues for commercial optimization across storage value streams.
• Address grid connections, network charges, wholesale energy markets, balancing mechanisms, capacity market, and ancillary services.
• Contribute to ongoing workstreams such as Reformed National Pricing and discover new initiatives like industry code modifications.
• Inform policymakers and regulators on how to leverage the advantages of storage for the energy system.
• Foster new regulations that support long-duration energy storage projects.
• Collaborate with Ofgem to create a practical long-duration energy storage license.
• Oversee the implementation of license obligations across development, construction, corporate development, finance, and operations teams.
• Enhance regulatory frameworks for future long-duration energy storage and similar initiatives.
• Establish partnerships with trade bodies, storage developers, and related industry stakeholders.
• Share regulatory insights with colleagues and pinpoint issues that necessitate strategic, procedural, or regulatory responses.
• Report to the Global Regulation and Policy Lead and work independently to achieve high-impact changes for Field.
• Familiarity with the core aspects of GB Energy Legislation and license responsibilities of generators, network owners, and NESO.
• Experience in engaging with code modification processes in GB, preferably as a workgroup participant or modification proposer.
• Proficient understanding of CUSC, DCUSA, BSC, Grid Code, and Capacity Market regulations.
• Established network of regulatory professionals within the industry, ideally including Ofgem, DESNZ, and NESO.
• Capacity to convey complex concepts and present compelling arguments to influence and persuade policymakers.
