Fund Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of accounting standards, interpretations, and policies for the supported venture funds.

• Act as the primary escalation point for intricate accounting inquiries and unique scenarios.

• Evaluate and authorize financial outputs that necessitate accounting judgment.

• Ensure uniform accounting treatment across various funds, vehicles, and structures.

• Collaborate with audit and tax providers to facilitate smooth and predictable reviews.

• Support Senior Fund Accountants in applying standards and resolving complex challenges.

• Work alongside Product and Engineering teams to guide the design of accounting workflows, controls, and automation.

• Assist in identifying patterns and recurring complexities that should be addressed through tooling instead of manual intervention.

• Provide support for fund migrations and structural changes from an accounting standpoint.

• Collaborate closely with senior fund accountants, treasury and compliance partners, as well as external audit and tax providers.

• Convert accounting standards and unique cases into scalable systems and workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–10+ years of experience in fund accounting or fund administration.

• In-depth knowledge of venture capital or private equity fund structures and fund administration workflows.

• Demonstrated experience in making and defending accounting judgment calls in complex, multi-fund environments.

• Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to translate accounting requirements into scalable systems, workflows, or tooling.

• Awareness of Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs) and their accounting implications.

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, particularly in ambiguous or edge-case scenarios.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining accounting concepts to non-accountants.

• Ability to lead with clarity, collaboration, and consistency.

• Comfortable operating in a remote, fast-paced, and evolving organization.

• Previous experience working in venture capital or with venture funds at scale.

• Exposure to the development or enhancement of accounting systems, platforms, or internal tools.

• Background in audit or public accounting.
