Financial Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee payroll processing across various job sites, wage classifications, and union jurisdictions

• Handle union reporting, fringe benefit contributions, labor compliance documentation, certified payroll reporting, and prevailing wage documentation

• Direct the month-end closing process and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP

• Manage accounts payable and project invoicing

• Implement best practices for job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting

• Perform variance, trend, and cost analysis to aid strategic decision-making

• Oversee organizational cash flows and project future financial requirements

• Supervise budgeting, monitor performance, and generate variance reports

• Ensure adherence to tax filings, government reporting, and financial disclosures

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and present suggestions to senior management

• Assist ownership with daily operations, reporting, insurance, benefits, and various administrative tasks

• Report directly to the CEO of the site location and the leadership of the Heritage Fencing platform

⛳️ Requirements

• CPA certification is preferred

• More than 5 years of relevant hands-on financial experience, focusing on construction accounting including WIP and job costing

• Strong understanding of percent-of-completion (PoC) and field services/project-based accounting is essential

• Deep knowledge of GAAP principles and financial analysis

• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks

• Experience with ERP systems such as Sage and NetSuite is advantageous

• Strong organizational, analytical, and leadership abilities

• Experience in a fast-growing environment, preferably in a private equity-backed company

• Comfortable in an entrepreneurial role, ready to establish new processes/systems and adapt to changing team structures

• Excellent communication skills with the capacity to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders
