Full Stack Engineer – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and sustain application functionality, focusing primarily on backend development (90%+ backend).

• Deliver software features throughout the complete development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment.

• Convert business and technical requirements into clean code and reusable patterns that align with the Laravel/React architecture.

• Construct and manage third-party API integrations, covering aspects like authentication, webhooks, rate limiting/backoff, and error handling.

• Assess API documentation and devise technical solutions for evolving or incomplete requirements.

• Provide light support for front-end development using React.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools when suitable and ensure code quality and outputs are validated.

• Adhere to security, confidentiality, and data protection standards.

• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical contributors to achieve agreed-upon outcomes.

• Suggest enhancements to processes, development practices, and code quality.

• Engage in an initial video interview followed by two technical interviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in designing and developing software solutions.

• Strong proficiency in PHP and Laravel.

• Experience with React is a plus.

• Demonstrated experience with API integration patterns, including authentication, webhooks, rate limiting/backoff, and error handling.

• Capability to review technical documentation and convert high-level requirements into effective solutions.

• Practical experience utilizing AI tools to assist software development.

• Solid understanding of security and data privacy best practices.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently.

• Proven experience collaborating effectively in remote and distributed settings.

• Commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes and continuously enhancing work methods.

• Availability to provide approximately 40-50% overlap with US Pacific Time working hours.

• Independent contractor status.
